This practice helps Transitioners deepen their understanding of what it means to grow up as good kin to the web of life. We live in a world shaped by interdependence, alongside countless beings with whom we share the planet. The practice invites us to explore how we can participate well in this web of life while recognising the world as both interdependent and animate.

At its heart, the practice is a way of deepening our experience and knowledge of that world and exploring what it means to take this understanding seriously in how we live. It draws on eight principles (pictured below) and capacities that we can nurture as good kin, bringing together direct experience, insights from Western science, and Indigenous ways of knowing that have long embodied these relationships.

Patterns of Kinship is the mycelium of Kincentric Leadership's tools, resources and offer - a synthesis of thier learning so far, inspired by countless others. It's a living framework of 8 principles (above) and 35 capacities that they find essential for Kincentric Leadership.

We often begin by learning how to come into relationship with our non-human kin. This means developing the quality of presence needed to listen and communicate, learning about their lives, and becoming more aware of how our actions affect them. Over time, the relationship can become more intimate. We begin to ask what this way of seeing the world might mean for the choices we make, from how we organise a business to how we imagine justice systems that recognise other beings as people and co-creators of the world.

People who take part in Kincentric Leadership trainings often say that they found the voice and courage to speak about something they already knew through experience. There is something powerful in making these relationships visible, giving people language for them, and creating spaces where they can be shared with others.

Support the movement

We offer these webinars free of charge to spread the good work and inspiration that these people are doing. It takes countless hours of coordination, resources and preparation to bring this all together.

If you have received value, inspiration from the series and want to reciprocate, or simply want to support us, we are now fundraising to put together an in-person international transition gathering in Portugal for May 2027. We do not have a budget for this, and are relying on donations and support to make it happen. If you are able to donate and support this cause it would be greatly appreciated!
